Can babies and children benefit from Myosteopractic?

Young children, especially babies, are often thought of as too young to have built up tension, stresses and injuries in their bodies. That is simply not the case.

The journey of being born is a traumatic one and a hugely stressful experience. A baby’s route through the birth canal can be torturous, with enormous contractile pressure throughout. However, a baby’s head is beautifully designed to allow for the many bones of the skull to move and overlap in order to reduce the overall diameter, enabling the baby to be safely delivered. If your baby has been through a long or very rapid delivery, or needed forceps or Ventouse assistance, then the skull (moulding) may not spontaneously recover from the distortion and the neck may be out of balance, resulting in unresolved tensions and pains throughout the musculoskeletal system (framework of the body). This may lead to subsequent irritation of nerves supplying different parts of the body e.g. the digestive system and the nervous system itself.

Myosteopractic on babies and children is gentle. There are NO manipulations, clicks or rough movements. What we offer is a non-threatening, non-invasive and effective method to deal with some common

Common Symptoms in Children

Children also benefit from Myosteopractic for strains resulting from traumatic births, falls, bumps and stresses. Many children also present with sports injuries. Typical symptoms include:

  • Growing pains - often due to misalignment and tension in the lower back and pelvis, interfering with the nerve supply down the legs

  • Behavioural problems:
    - Anxiety
    - Restlessness
    - Acting out

  • Poor sleep patterns

  • Hearing difficulties

  • Bed wetting

  • Heavy legs

  • Wanting to be carried all the time

General infections: retained moulding and birth stresses may challenge the immune system. This may leave children more vulnerable to all types of infection.

Sinus and dental problems: mouth breathers with constantly blocked or runny nose may have impaired drainage of the sinuses and face.

Behavioural problems, learning difficulties & special needs: poor concentration, constant fidgeting, and difficulty sitting still, hyperactivity and a continuation of the restlessness as a young baby. Your child may be uncomfy in one position for too long which becomes habit forming.

Headache and aches and pains: according to the textbooks, headaches (as we adults understand them) begin age 7-8. Growing pains, vulnerability to sprains, or other aches and pains may be a sign that cranial stresses are present. These can all be helped by Myosteopractic.

Other conditions that might be helped

Glue ear is often the result of repeated, chronic nose and throat infections. Typically, the child is 2 or over. This is an uncomfy condition, is distressing to the child and often not responsive to conventional treatments. Homeopathy is worth considering, in conjunction with Myosteopractic. Partial or complete blocking of the Eustachian tube may be the cause. If left untreated the child's hearing and speech development may be affected.
